The trip to the Emergency Room! Aug 11th

Mon. Aug. 11th
Well most of this afternoon for me was spent in the ER. I was taking care of my girls and walked into the back yard and stepped on some uneven ground and my 2-inch thick flip flop slipped out from under my heel and down I fell. As I was falling I felt and heard a crack, crack, crack and was down for the count. I quickly called David who rushed home from work to take me to the ER followed by a call to my parents (who happened to be taking the afternoon off). They came home and took care of Talia while we brought Miranda with us to the ER. After leaving the ER we found out that while I do not have a break, I do have a severe sprain and several torn ligaments. I was told the cracking sound I heard were my ligaments stretching out like a rubber band and then tearing. Three days later I am now in a walking cast, given to me by the orthopedic doc. I am expected to be close to back to norm in 6-10 weeks and as far as they can tell no surgery will be needed… This was the most painful thing I have experienced; I am actually very surprised it was not broken, and a bit embarrassed. Everyone (including the Dr.) has said that in many cases a sprain can hurt more than a break, but…. Anyway, I am ok. LOL
